In this interview, we meet project manager Kylie O’Brien from Pintail.

Why did you join PanCareSurPass?

I‘ve worked on two previous PanCare projects (PanCareLIFE, PanCareFollowUp) so I was invited by the team to join for a third!

Explain your organization and your role in PanCareSurPass.

I work for Pintail Ltd, an Irish company specialising in EU proposal support and project management. My job is to help the Management Team oversee the project to make sure things run smoothly.

Why do you think PanCareSurPass is an important project?

PanCareSurPass is an important project to help the digital transformation of healthcare benefit childhood cancer survivorship. It’s also an important project for improving equity of survivorship care across Europe.

What makes this project unique for you?

The team! It‘s a unique mix of clinicians, IT professionals and survivors.

What do you hope this project will achieve?

I hope this project will see the SurPass established in the health systems of the six study countries after the project ends, and the first collaborations to see it more widely implemented in more countries in the future.

What’s the biggest challenge for your organization in PanCareSurPass?

The large number of partners is a challenge – but the team is very enthusiastic and many of us have worked together for a number of years, so that helps!

What’s the most fun thing for you in PanCareSurPass?

I most enjoy watching the collaboration of partners from so many disciplines, backgrounds and countries.

What’s the most important benefit of your participation in PanCareSurPass?

The project is increasing my knowledge of digital health and the challenges faced in implementing digital solutions in health systems. We participate in a lot of health projects, many with a digital focus, so the learnings will be useful for future proposals and projects.
