Meet the Clinic Leader from CCRI!

September 22nd, 2022|

In this interview, we meet pediatric haemato-oncologist Edit Bardi from CCRI. Why did you join PanCareSurPass? I would like to facilitate the process of the survivorship passport, which can give more information and achievement to the survivors. Introduce your clinic shortly. As a senior physician for pediatric haemato-oncology, I am charged with the tasks of the survivors long term follow up clinic at the St. Anna Children's Hospital in Vienna. St. Anna Children's Hospital is responsible for the cancer treatment of yearly 110-120 cancer patients and works in close collaboration with the Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) supporting research around pediatric cancer. Why do you think PanCareSurPass is an important project? PanCareSurPass aligns the efforts of implementation of the survivorship passport across 6 European countries and hence is a major step forward and facilitator to improve long term care for survivors. What makes this project unique for you? PanCareSurPass is unique, because the researchers dealing with survivors can work together with IT specialists, who can translate the content of the Survivorship Passport to IT language. It explores in depth country-specific solutions ...

AGPHO Working Group Meetings

September 14th, 2022|

National-level activities are needed to drive implementation of the Survivorship Passport across Europe. In April 2022 and September 2022, CCRI's Prof. Ruth Ladenstein and Vanessa Duester presented 'Status update and next steps for SurPass implementation in Austria'  to around 70 participants of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für pädiatrische Hämatologie und Onkologie (AGPHO) Working Group for Paediatric Haematology and Oncology in Austria. Besides the national coordination and conduct of clinical trials, the group is involved in cooperations with international consortia and European activities, such as the implementation of the Survivorship Passport.

Meet the Clinic members from KU Leuven!

September 14th, 2022|

In this interview, we meet the clinical team from KU Leuven, which includes Anne Uyttebroeck, Marleen Renard, Monique van Helvoirt, Tom Brié, Saskia Van Deun, Jurgen Lemiere, Trui Vercruysse, Sofie Prikken. The multidisciplinary team is composed of a pediatric haemato-oncologist, Head of Department (PHO), late-effect specialist, pediatric endocrinologist, data manager, neuro-psychologist and clinical psychologists. Why did you join PanCareSurPass? Actually, we are participating in the Horizon 2020 PanCareFollowUp project and we noticed how important a follow-up Care Plan is for Childhood Cancer Survivors. However, we’re aware of the limitations of the paper version of the Care Plan that we are drafting in the PanCareFollowUp project. A digital version of the plan included in the Survivorship Passport as a living document will, in our opinion, be even more valuable to the survivors. Introduce your clinic shortly. University Hospitals Leuven are ranked 45th in the world. The Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology is a member of the Leuven Cancer Institute (LKI), established as part of the University KU Leuven and University Hospitals Leuven. It is one of the largest Paediatric Oncology units in Belgium. ...

Meet the Clinic Leader from IGG!

September 8th, 2022|

In this interview, we meet Pediatrician Monica Muraca from Istituto Giannina Gaslini. Why did you join PanCareSurPass? I joined because I coordinate the Late effect Clinic at Gaslini Hospital in Genoa and have been involved in the SurPass implementation in Italy since 2016. Introduce your clinic shortly. The late effects outpatient clinic in Genoa (DOPO clinic) started at the beginning of 2000 in close collaboration with the pediatric hematology-oncology department. Currently, it is run by three physicians, a nurse and a resident and follows almost 600 survivors per year. We care for survivors who have passed two years after the end of cancer treatment with no age limit and we coordinate both pediatric specialists in our hospital and adult specialists in other Genoa hospitals to manage possible late effects. More than 300 survivors have received the Survivorship Passport (SurPass v1.2) since 2016. Why do you think PanCareSurPass is an important project? I firmly believe that the Survivorship Passport (SurPass v2.0) will enhance the partnership between childhood cancer survivors and health care providers to ensure person-centered long-term care, without discrimination related to ...
