International Symposium on Late Complications after Childhood Cancer 2022
The first International Symposium on Late Complications after Childhood Cancer 2022 (ISLCCC 2022) was held in July 2022 and PanCareSurPass was there! The symposium featured emerging research results and insights from real world clinical experience to promote research collaborations and improve survivorship care throughout the world. It focused on the exchange of innovative ideas among pediatric and medical oncologists (fellows, residents), scientists, psychologists, radiotherapists, nurse practitioners, oncology nurses, primary care providers, survivors, and other associated allied health professionals who, in the past, have attended from Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, Canada and the United States. Selina van den Oever and Ismay de Beijer presented two posters about implementing the digital Survivorship Passport: 'Barriers and facilitators identified by a PanCareSurPass Online Survey' and 'Barriers and facilitators identified by a PanCareSurPassOpen Space study'. HIMSS European Health Conference 2022
On 16 June 2022, Research Manager Riccardo Haupt (IGG) presented PanCareSurPass the the HIMSS European Health Conference & Exhibition 2022. In the 'Setting European Hospitals on FHIR' session, Riccardo shared his perspective on FHIR as a hospital professional, sharing his experience with using FHIR and why it matters in the long run for European healthcare. Catherine Chronaki (HL7 Europe), who leads the activities with CINECA to deliver SurPass v2.0 in the project, also presented at the session as a FHIR subject matter expert, presenting FHIR as an interoperability standard for electronic exchange of healthcare information.
PanCareSurPass at ‘Slimme Gasten dag’
Ismay de Beijer from PMC presented the PanCareSurPass project to a class of primary school children aged 7-9 in Zeist as part of 'Slimme Gasten dag'. Organized by the Science Hub of Utrecht University, in collaboration with the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital, the initiative trains young scientists how to share their research with primary school students in a smart way. What a great way to engage the next generation of reseachers!
CCI Europe Conference 2022
The CCI Europe Conference 2022 in Vienna was back to in person and it was a great meeting! CCI Europe's Carina Schneider presented 'We have come to stay: On the road to long-term sustainability', which included an update on PanCareSurPass and other EU projects involving the organisation.
dHealth 2022
In May 2022, 300 participants from different fields addressing digital needs on Health Informatics and Digital Health (researchers, clinicians, IT- and technical experts, policy and GDPR experts, and many more) joined the dHealth 2022 Meeting. CCRI's Prof. Ruth Ladenstein presented on "Paediatric Oncology needs for European-scale data sharing for Research and Healthcare" in the session on the European Health Data Space. Prof. Ladenstein is leading the developement of an Implementation Strategy in PanCareSurPass, as well as heading up the clinical implementation study in Austria. AIT's Günter Schreier, responsible for IT aspects of the Austrian implementation of the SurPass, was the Conference Chair. SurPass in Italy
PanCareSurPass' Research Manager Dr. Riccardo Haupt (IGG) was interviewed recently by 'Policy and Procurement in Health Care'.
